THIS INFORMATION IS ALSO AVAILABLE IN LARGE PRINT, AND CAN BE POSTED OR EMAILED. PLEASE REQUEST IT AT: firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have access requirements at the festival, please read through the following information:
Registering to use the facilities on site
We ask that anyone with accessibility requirements onsite emails us at email@example.com.
Or send it by post to Global Gathering Accessibility Team, Festivals Department, 59-65 Worship Street, London, EC2A 2DU.
Global Gathering Festival has been working with live music charity, Attitude is Everything, since 2010 to ensure a more accessible and enjoyable experience for disability access customers and those with specific requirements. Behind the scenes, we’re working harder than ever to make adjustments and additions to the festival in order to make it as accessible as possible.
Bookable Access Facilities:
Once you have purchased a standard ticket for Global Gathering 2013, you can then register and book the following access facilities, upon the submission of evidence.
- An Accessible Wristband
- A 2-for-1 ticket for a personal assistant
- An Accessible parking space
1) Accessible Wristband
This grants access to all of the following accessible facilities on site:
- Viewing platform at Main Stage (unsheltered).
- Accessible toilets at viewing platform and Welfare tent (other accessible toilets in each of the main toilet blocks throughout the arena).
- Use of the accessible drop-off/pick-up point (approximately 50m from the box office over tarmac paths).
- Power chair charging point located at the Welfare tent.
- Guide/Hearing dog resting area located at the Welfare tent.
- Lowered bars which will also have printed menus.
- Induction loop at check-in point.
- Partnered local taxi service off site, for those requiring wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
- We are working to bring on-site signers for ease of communication with guests who have hearing impairments.
If you have registered for the Accessible Wristband and we have confirmed your application, you will receive a wristband at the check-in point when you arrive. If your 2-for-1 request is also approved, your PA will be given the same Accessibility Wristband and have the same access rights as you.
2) 2-for-1 Ticket for a Personal Assistant
We operate a ‘2-for-1’ scheme where you are able to bring a Personal Assistant who gets free entry. This scheme is for the exclusive use of people who would otherwise be unable to attend Global Gathering unless they have the assistance of another person on site. This 2-for-1 ticket must be confirmed by us in advance and is not an automatic privilege when registering as an accessible guest.
Please note that a ticket will not be sent out to the PA prior to the event – They will be checked in with you when you arrive, based on the information you have provided us with. You will both receive an Accessible Wristband, allowing them the same access rights as you.
3) Accessible Parking
While we strongly advise using public transport to try and lessen our carbon footprint, we are well aware that some people may require blue-badge parking due to accessibility requirements. We therefore have a blue-badge parking area, approximately 50m from the Accessibility check-in Box Office.
To gain access to this parking area, you must register in advance for a Global Gathering Parking Permit, which we will send you in advance. You must display this permit in your car upon arrival – entry will not be granted without this.
Applying for bookable Access provisions:
If you wish to make use of any of the facilities listed above, please follow the steps below:
1. Purchase a standard ticket for Global Gathering
2. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to request an Access Requirement form, or phone and ask to speak with our Accessibility team on 020 7688 2679 – No enquiries other than Disability Access will be dealt with.
We will then send you a short form to fill in, requesting your booking reference number and evidence that you are eligible for the facilities on offer.
Once your request has been confirmed by us, we will send you a detailed information pack in June and try our best to answer any questions you may have about accessibility at Global Gathering 2013. If your parking permit is confirmed, we will also send you a Global Gathering permit in advance which you must display upon arrival.
If you wish to register for an Accessibility Wristband/PA/Blue-badge parking permit, you must do so by Sunday 21st July 2013.
A photocopy/scan of one of the following official documents (dated within the past 12 months if DLA or Attendance Allowance) makes you automatically eligible for the Accessible Wristband or 2-for-1 Scheme. Please do not send the original copy.
- Front page of DLA letter
- Front page of Attendance Allowance letter
- Evidence that registered severely sight impaired
- Recognised Assistance Dog ID card
In addition, a copy of the following evidence is required in order to reserve an Accessible Parking space:
- Valid Blue Badge
We aim to operate on a case-by-case basis as we appreciate that each guest may have different requirements. If you have any questions, have a requirement that hasn’t been catered for in these details or want to submit a different form of evidence which is not outlined in this page then please email email@example.com or call 020 7688 2679 and ask to speak with our Accessibility team – No enquiries other than Disability Access will be dealt with.
Alternative formats for information
All forms and information are available in large print upon request, using the contact details above.
We provide at least one accessible toilet at each main toilet block in the arena, one at the main stage viewing platform and one at the Welfare tent. There will also be an accessible toilet in the Accessible campsite. These will be ‘festival style’ portable units, and will be signposted and shown on the maps in your info pack.
There will be a wheelchair-accessible shower unit available at the Accessible campsite, please note that there are no shower units available in the General Admission campsite.
There is a hearing loop at the Accessible check-in point, the location of this will be made clear in the access info.
Please note that strobe effects may be used at the event. There will be no specific announcements prior to the use of strobes and lasers. Strobe flicker rates will be at or below 4 flashes per second.
Our on-site medical services provide comprehensive medical advice and treatment facilities and are very flexible in meeting specific needs. The location of these services will be available on the maps in your info pack and on site
Access around the site
Global Gathering is on a large green-field site with very few hard-standing paths. While there are some sheltered areas (marquees) it is mainly an open-air event. Weather and ground conditions may be variable and in times of extreme weather, mobility on the site may become very difficult. We ask you to consider this before purchasing a ticket. The festival takes place in a large area of the park to the East of Grove Road. The route from the registered blue-badge parking area/pick-up/drop-off point to the Main Arena entrance is approximately 350m over green-field site. The Accessible campsite is approximately 150m from the Accessible parking/pick-up/drop-off point over tarmac paths and green-field site.
A site map will be available in June and will be sent out in your information pack; copies of the map will also be available from the Information Tent on the day. More information about site layout can be made available on request from mid June onwards.
Global Gathering takes place in a large area of Long Marston Airfield, Campden Road, Stratford Upon Avon, CV37 8LL. Stratford Upon Avon is the nearest town, located 5.2 miles from site.
Stratford Upon Avon’s main rail station has direct trains from London Marylebone and Euston. For more information on train times and station accessibility please go to the National Rail website, details below.
